Strength
Training Coach Amy Caldwell
Amy brings
significant credentials to our "Weights in the Warehouse"
program. She earned a Masters Degree in Physical Education from
the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and is also a personal
trainer, certified by the American Council on Exercise. Although
she is relatively new to the masters swimming arena, she swam competitively
on summer league teams and in high school, where she was also a
cheerleader and ran track. Amy is still a great cheerleader, only
now she cheers our team on to new levels of strength by directing
our fitness goals.
Webmistress,
Marketing Director and Head Cheerleader Jean Mainland
What began
as a hobby has become a second "career" for Jean. She
earned a degree in Mass Communications, with an emphasis in television,
and set out on her quest to become the anchor-for-life on the Today
Show. Life can be a fickle mistress, and things just didn't work
out exactly as she anticipated, and after years of career changes,
she became a paralegal. Yet another questionable career choice,
but it paid the bills. Because law is not necessarily the most creative
field around (or is it?), Reeno, as she is known to the team, needed
a creative outlet. Thus, she became webmistress and marketing director.
After an offer of an early (I mean INCREDIBLY
way too honkin' EARLY) retirement package from a major US automobile
manufacturer's captive credit company, she took the money and ran,
and she now serves as the full time office manager at Sea Star,
where she keeps the kiddies enrolled, manages the Pro Shop and tries
to keep Coach Ron organized (a full time job)!
Reeno is new
to swimming. A total "swim phobic", Coach Ron taught her
to swim just a few years ago, which earned him many karma points,
her undying gratitude and the title of the "Most Patient Man
Alive". Although she never lost the fear, she has even managed
to compete at the 2004 USMS Short Course Nationals, despite a panic
attack. While an NQT probably isn't in the cards, she hopes to live
long enough to place in a heat. Or to get her 50 free under 1:30.
Whichever comes first.
