Emily Moore will always remember her first swim meet with MTSC
Masters. Impressing her daughter and parents was worth the work.
“My parents came to cheer me on - if I was a kid they would've
been there, so why not now? The team was really supportive--I
had no idea what to expect and was so nervous. I am not competitive,
but love to try new things. The energy was amazing to experience,”
said Emily.
Emily started swimming with MTSC Masters about 10 months ago.
It was love at first swim.
“I am constantly impressed by the dedication and enthusiasm in
which Coach Ron leads his team. He is very motivational, driven
and creative at each workout. He sees potential in every person
there, no matter what. My teammates expect just as much from me
and I want to work harder each time to improve myself and keep
up with them!” says Emily.
Outside the pool, Emily works from home as a paralegal. She has
been married to her husband William for 15 years, and they have
two children, Lindsey and Will. 5:30 a.m. is early for a workout,
but it fits right into Emily’s busy lifestyle.
“Even though it's at 5:30 a.m., it's by far the most fun and
challenging workout I've ever had. I wouldn't do it if I didn't
love it. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this group.”

Growing
up in Florida, Bart Mackey understood the respect the water deserved.
He entered his daughters, Iris and Azalea, in swim classes at Sea
Star so they would learn basic skills. Little did he know that he
and his wife Bethany would be swimming with MTSC Masters just a
few years later.
“Swimming is a wonderful family activity that still allows us to
be challenged as individuals,” says Bart.
The Meter Mania Challenge and a subsequent MTSC Elementary School
meet brought this home for the Mackey family.
“The kids cheered me on while I swam the mile. Soon after, the girls
swam an elementary meet in the same pool and they knew I understood
what they felt. I’m not just on the bench cheering them on blindly;
I’m doing it too!”
His
favorite thing about swimming for MTSC Masters is the group.
“We
love having a social circle outside of work. They are genuine, supportive
and a touch crazy,” says Bart.
A District Sales Manager for Teknion, an international furniture
manufacturer, Bart has also emerged as the team’s inhouse artist/designer.
He designs the bulletin boards for the Sea Star lobby. He also designed
the expansion of the Pro Shop at Sea Star.
