MTSC Masters DOMINATE the Barbara Stevens Memorial Meet at WKU!!!

It's not exactly an upcoming event, but the MTSC Masters ruled the pool at the BSMM, winning the overall team championship, overall high points for men and for women.   Coach Ron, Randy Hartkemeyer, John Trainer and the relay team of Larry Phillips, Bruce McLeod, Bill Taylor and Dan Corley set meet records.  Many swam in their first meet and met with great success.

USMS Registration begins ONLINE on November 1st.   All MTSC Masters are REQUIRED TO REGISTER WITH USMS!!!!!   More information will be available as soon as we get it from our Registrar.

Secure your babysitters now--our Annual Holiday Party at Coach Ron's house will be on Saturday, December 15th at 7:00 p.m.   There will be a special performance by the HHS Select Choir at 8:30.  Dress is "Christmas Casual" (be careful where you put that mistletoe!) and please bring an appetizer or dessert to share.   Oh, and if you plan to partake in adult beverages, it's BYOB!

Indian Lake Loop 5K--Thanksgiving Day (November 22), 8:00 a.m. at Drakes Creek Park.   Register on www.active.com.   Cool down with a workout at the Warehouse at 9:30 a.m.!  It's better than a PARADE!!!

Saturday, January 12th is the date; prepare to BRING IT to the Barbara Stevens Memorial Meet in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  This year's meet will be held at the Preston Pool at Western Kentucky University.   The entry forms should be available soon, according to the Green Gators' own Mark Rogers!

Thursday, October 25th--Lunch at Cafe Rakka at 11.  (Cafe Rakka is located in the old September's Cafe on New Shackle Island Road on the left, just past the TN Mini-Storage building.

Summer Field Trips

School has started, so now it's time for a FIELD TRIP!   MTSC Masters has two field trips scheduled for Saturday, August 18th and 25th from 8:30 a.m.- 9:30 a.m.  We're going to the Jimmy Floyd Family Center in Lebanon!  Yes, it's your chance to swim the 50 meter long course pool!  The cost for the field trip is $2.00.   Plan to meet at the HHS parking lot next to the football stadium and we'll carpool.  Otherwise, meet us at the JFFC.

The JFFC is a beautiful outdoor complex that also has a zero depth play area for children.  In fact, if you want to stay and play with your family, the day fees are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 per child---Masters--just add $3 to the workout fee.  As hot as it is, you'll be glad you did!

Party On, MTSC Masters!!!

We just don't want to let go of SUMMER.  With that in mind, we also have a few events for your busy social calendar...

"MTSC Masters' Parrothead Night" at Anchor High Marina

Wednesday, August 22 at 6:30

Phfins up, MTSC MASTERS!!!!   Yes, as summer slips away into the sunset, let's take one more opportunity to grab hold of it for as long as we can.   What better thing to do than....PARTY!  On Wednesday, August 22, we plan to meet at Anchor High Marina for dinner at 6:30.   As is fitting with an MTSC Masters' event, outlandish dress is REQUIRED, so wear your most "Buffett-esque" parrothead attire.

Fitness Summit 2007

July marked the first 2 installments of the MTSC Masters' Fitness Summit.  Madhavi Kondakalla, R.D. talked to us about "Fueling your Machine" and gave us some insight on proper nutrition.   Dr. Michael Bernui led the second session with a discussion about supplements and the detoxification process.

We look forward to our next session on Tuesday, August 28th at 6:30 p.m., where our own Dr. Dave Trenner will talk about the "Agony of deFEET".

If your "dogs are barking" , join us for this session, when Dr. Dave will unlock the mysteries of common running and swimming injuries that affect the feet...like plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonitis.   If you are a biped, you'll want to be there!    Presentation will be at Sea Star Swim School.

In September, Dr. Ben Follas of Living Well Chiropractic will address "twinges in our hinges"-- some of the aches and pains that swimmers experience--like those pesky shoulders, the pain in the neck, and in the elbow.  We'll meet at his office (Living Well Chiropractic, next to Casa Vieja Restaurant).

Thanks to Dr. Ben Follas for his tremendous presentation about the "Twinges in our Hinges".  We feel better already!

Poor Dr. Ben...he had NO IDEA what he was getting into, did he? YIKES!

NIGHT MOVES

Night Moves have returned!!!  What's better than swimming in the lake at sunset?   We're moving our Thursday evening workout to the shores of Old Hickory Lake (at the Rock Castle Cove, to be precise).  Be at Coach Ron's house at 6:30; don't go to the door, just go around back to the lake.    The course is approximately 3,000 yards, according to our resident GPS guy (Thanks, Eric!).  Also, for your safety, we'll have escorts in kayaks, so no worries.   Get the edge on your next triathlon.  Join us for NIGHT MOVES!!!!

MTSC's Royal Flush

Our own three Queens with their new bling -- Susan Lanius, Gay Sutley and Rebecca Ehmling at the Queen City Triathlon in Clarksville.   Susan won her age group; Rebecca took 3rd in hers.  Gay took first overall for beginners.   Oh, by the way--Susan and Rebecca tied for "Ms. Congeniality".  Who KNEW?!?!

XTERRA

Thanks to the MTSC Masters who volunteered to work the Xterra Lock 4 Blast.   And a special thanks to our pal and Xterra race director David Hardin of The Bikers' Choice, who graciously donated $$$ towards some new equipment!   David, you are the BEST!   All you triathletes take note...David is the MASTER of BIKES---buy yours there!

We just added a race calendar for 2007.   See where our triathletes will be competing this summer.   Click here to view.

Congratulations to Lukas Siska of the Middle Tennessee Triathlon Club (sponsored by TYR).   Lukas placed 42nd out of 1,000 in the College Triathlon Championships.   Impressive!!!   Lukas is currently a student at Austin Peay State University.

Saturday, August 18th--6:00 p.m.

Party at Livermore's!

"ˇSalsarita la Bamba!"  (whatever that means...)  Time to refuel from all the calories you burned swimming long course on Saturday morning!  Dress is "fiesta casual", so if the ladies prefer to wear grass skirts, no worries.  Larry assures us that the property has been sprayed for insects, so no GRASSHOPPERS!  We'll send directions in an email along with what you should bring (besides whatever adult beverage in which you plan to partake).
